Conor McGregor is an icon of MMA and is one of the main reasons the sport is as popular as today. The Irishman has created a legacy that would be impossible to touch by any competitor today. There’s been a lot of talk about his inevitable return to the octagon after his brutal injury sustained in the Dustin Poirier contest. He has now submitted paperwork to re-enter the USADA testing pool as he prepares for his return against Michael Chandler. Dana White has given his thoughts on a Mcgregor return.
Dana White On USADA Situation
Mcgregor was arguably the first to break through to the sports’ mainstream audience, and everybody wanted to see him fight. The Irishman is a former featherweight and lightweight champion and was the first to hold two championships simultaneously. After recovering from a leg injury that has put him out of action for several years, speaking at the UFC Vegas 80 post-fight press conference, White said that McGregor has submitted paperwork to go back into the USADA testing pool when asked if McGregor is in it yet.
No,” White said at the UFC Vegas 80 post-fight press conference when asked if McGregor was in the USADA testing pool. “He is not officially in the USADA testing pool. He submitted the paperwork; probably by Monday, he’ll be submitted. Again, don’t hold me to that, but the paperwork is submitted next week sometime.”
White On McGregor’s Return
White had this to say when we could see McGregor return.
“I have nothing planned for Conor McGregor right now,” White said. “The paperwork is being submitted. We’ll play it by ear and see how things work out. There’s still a lot of things that have to happen as far as fights go, and then we’ll decide where he’s going to land.”
