Conor McGregor and Michael Chandler will eventually go toe toe-to-toe in the UFC Octagon. However, there has yet to be a date for the fight, which has left much speculation on when the fight will happen. Recently, an image of the UFC Fight Pass has been on social media advertising the contest for December. Yet, UFC President Dana White confirmed this is untrue.
McGregor And Chandler Set To Clash
Both McGregor and Chandler are big names in UFC. However, their paths to the company were very different. McGregor came into the promotion as a prospect and worked his way up to where he is today. At the same time, Chandler competed in Bellator for most of his career. He held titles, which meant there was a lot of hype around him when he joined the UFC. They are entertaining fighters who put on a good show every time they enter the Octagon. They have recently filmed a series of The Ultimate Fighter together. During the series, we saw glimpses of tension between the two fighters. It has made fans even more excited to see the bout. McGregor and Chandler will look to have a big performance in the matchup. As it could go a long way in securing them a title shot could go a long way.
Dana White Says Its Fake
As previously stated, there has been a lot of speculation on when the fight will happen. A rumour has been going around that the bout may occur in December. After the leaked photo came out, it convinced fans even more that the two would throw down at Christmas time. Yet, White said the picture was fake at a Contender Series press conference.
“I don’t know how that got out; it wasn’t from Fight Pass. My team was telling me it was AI; it wasn’t real. If that weren’t the case, you would have heard it from us first. You would have got a report from me on Instagram.”

When Could The Fight Happen
Looking at when the fight could happen. It is hard to see it go ahead this year. McGregor needs to complete six months in the USADA testing pool before he is allowed to compete again. It means that the fight could happen early next year. Furthermore, it is easy to see the UFC saving the fight for UFC 300. When asked about a date for the contest, White seemed unsure.
“I have no clue; we’ll see how this plays out.”
Whenever the fight happens, it will be massive as they are big names and attract a lot of attention.
