UFC President Dana White has once again thrown his weight behind former President Donald Trump as the 2024 election approaches. This marks White’s third appearance at the Republican National Convention (RNC) in support of Trump. This time, he had the honour of being the final speaker before Trump himself took the stage to accept the Republican nomination for president.
In his five-minute address, White reflected on his long-standing friendship with Donald Trump, which has spanned over 20 years. He recounted how Trump had personally invited him to speak at the convention, even amid a busy schedule.
White shared a message from Trump, who had expressed regret about interrupting White’s family trip:
UFC CEO Dana White Voices Support for Donald Trump at RNC
“I only wish you didn’t have to interrupt your family trip, but I hope they understand. They love you, and they know how important this is,” White read aloud.
“Now think about this: This man’s running for president of the United States, he’s fighting for the future of this country, and he’s concerned about interrupting my family trip. That’s the president Trump that I know, a man who truly cares about people.”
He challenged the media narrative suggesting that Trump is self-serving:
“The mainstream media likes to push the narrative that he doesn’t care about anyone but himself. I absolutely know that’s not the truth because I’ve been friends with this guy for 25 years.”
White’s passion for Trump’s candidacy intensified following a recent incident where Trump was attacked during a rally in Butler, Pennsylvania. Despite the attack, which left Trump with a noticeable bandage on his ear, White remained steadfast in his support:
“I know president Trump is a fighter, I’ve been saying this since 2015,” White asserted. “Now look at what’s happened over the last 10 years, we have all seen it with our own eyes. I’m in the tough guy business, and this man is the toughest, most resilient human being that I’ve ever met in my life.”
Trump’s Legal Challenges
Despite Trump’s legal challenges, including 34 felony convictions related to business record falsifications, White endorsed him as the best candidate for president. White also drew inspiration from former President Ronald Reagan in his speech. He quoted Reagan’s view on government, saying, “Government’s first duty is to protect the people, not run their lives.” White argued that excessive government interference hampers personal and financial freedoms. He emphasized that Trump is fighting to preserve the American Dream, which he believes is at stake in the upcoming election.
In closing, White reinforced his support for Trump while clarifying that he was not attempting to dictate voting choices to others. Instead, he simply shared his reasons for backing his friend and WWE Hall of Famer:
“I know president Trump is a proven leader, a fearless leader, and this country was in a much better place when he was in the Oval Office,” White concluded. “In my mind, the choice is clear, but this election, we all get to choose. I know I’m going to choose strength and security. I know I’m going to choose opportunity and prosperity. I know I’m going to choose real American leadership and a real American badass.”
