Dana White reacted to Merab Dvalishvili removing stiches from his eye.
The Georgian fighter last week revealed footage of a cut that occurred during sparring.
Dana White will be hoping Merab will be ready for his championship bout with Sean O’Malley.
UFC CEO Dana White Weighs In as Merab Dvalishvili Pulls Stitches Out
Speaking after the Contender series last night Dana White said: “It is a bad cut a really bad cut. So usually what they do is sew them from inside out. Maybe he will get some big ass scissors and take them out himself.”
Whilst White initially laughed after the comments, clearly he was annoyed with the bantamweight fighter. Ahead of arguably his biggest UFC fight to date Merab is fooling around removing stiches from serious wounds which can lead to infection.
Dana White went on to say; “I had to touch on it before one of you (media) was going to go at me with that. Isn’t he awesome? I think Merab is just f*****g with me right now, I’ll be honest with you. Do what you want.”
“Have you seen the scissors they use to take stiches out with. They’re tiny, and they have that thing on there so you don’t cut yourself. And this guy had f****** bush shears that he was using. You know, you trim your f****** bushes with – that gardeners use. Whatever good for him.”
Could Cut Delay Fight?
Whilst the UFC have confirmed that the fight between Merab and O’Malley will go ahead despite the Georgian’s cut. Dana White will be hoping that the pair are able to square off in the UFC’s Noche card. Much preparation and thought has gone into the card with the UFC sparing no expense in this highly anticipated event.
For both fighters this is a symbolic fight. Sean O’Malley has the chance to cement his title reign with his third straight defence. On the other hand, Merab has the opportunity to establish himself as the new bantamweight champion.
With both fighters looking to do battle to see who is the king of the bantamweights. Dana White will be hoping that Merab’s cut is properly healed ahead of the 15th September clash.
