We had the opportunity of speaking with Josh Wang-Kim with the aim of giving the audience a better understanding of the bantamweight fighter ahead of the biggest fight of his career. The 29-year-old, who fights out of San Diego, holds a record of (5-1). Since turning to the pro-ranks Josh Wang-Kim has established himself as a finisher, with four of his five victories coming by stoppage.

Who have you drawn inspiration from the most in your MMA journey thus far?
I’ve drawn inspiration because this is the only thing I do! Nothing in my life I have put the toil into achieving. I’ve sacrificed 14 years chasing perfection in my skill set. I won’t be denied.
Where do you feel your strengths lie within MMA?
My strengths lie in my diversity and ability to think critically on the fly.
What’s your most dreaded training drill/workout?
Spyder workouts (volk/Izzy’s) conditioning.

What do you love about the sport of MMA the most?
I love that it’s the hardest and scariest thing you can do. There are no entitlements in fighting. So I do my due diligence every day to make sure I’m sharp.
What are some of your favourite things to do outside of fighting?
Nothing. This is all I do and think about on a daily basis.
If you had the opportunity to compete against anyone in the sport, past or present, who are you picking?
Sean O’Malley, I’m not impressed by his funk. When we collide, you’ll see who’s funkier.

What is your earliest memory of MMA?
Playing fighting games and watching fighting movies with my Twin growing up. Trying to recreate it with each other.
Who are some of the fighters you enjoy watching the most from the current roster?
Love watching the elites in the game. Every movement pattern they throw and energy expenditure they exhaust. I visualize myself doing those things.
What do you feel you could bring to the table in terms of the UFC bantamweight division?
It’s the most competitive division in the sport. I’m very excited to show the division I’m the end formidable superstar in the making.
