Taking his shot for a UFC contract this Tuesday on Dana White’s Contender Series. Jack Cartwright is a name many fans around UK MMA know well. For those from elsewhere who don’t, here is a little bit about the Englishman.
On the night he’ll be taking in Jose Johnson. Jose is an American with a professional record of 14-7 and currently riding a two-fight winning streak. He previously made an appearance on the show back in 2020 but was unsuccessful.
Tale of the Tape
A talented bantamweight, he has been competing at 135 lbs his whole career. This DWCS fight will also be contested at the weight class. With a big frame for the weight class, he stands at 5’ 9” tall, giving him the edge over most others who fight there.
At 28 years old, Jack Cartwright is just coming into his MMA prime. Fighting out of SBG Manchester, he is in one of the UK’s most illustrious gyms, so has a great team surrounding him.
Fighting Style and Record
Undefeated as both a professional and amateur, he is currently on a 14-fight winning streak. 4-0 as an amateur and 10-0 as a pro. Of his ten wins as a pro, only one has seen the judges’ scorecards. With three wins via KO/TKO and a further five via submission. He also holds a disqualification victory.
This impressive streak has seen him earn the Cage Warriors Bantamweight championship, which he has defended three times overall. An all-rounder, he can compete in both grappling and striking exchanges. However, he usually does his best work once the fight hits the mat.
Having strong top pressure and relentless grappling. His long frame helps him wrap up limbs and secure the submissions.
A highly touted prospect from the UK, if he earns the contract, the UK might have another contender in the UFC ranks. Look out for this one, as Jack Cartwright is as talented as any.
