Daniel Argueta provides a relentless-paced performance to earn a decision victory over Nick Aguirre at UFC Strickland Vs Imavov.
A wrestling-heavy first round sees each man have moments. For Dan, it was heavy top pressure looking to advance position. For Nick, it was a slick defensive game which saw him defend several submission attempts and gain Argueta’s back for his own RNC attempt. The round ends with Daniel Argueta on the back of Aguirre.
Round two commences with Dan once again pushing the pressure against the debutant. Argueta looks to chop the base from underneath Aguirre with heavy leg kicks. This attack sets up a clinch exchange against the fence. He secures a takedown with two minutes on the clock. He gets the back and works for the neck but the clock runs down. End of the second.
The third follows the theme of the first two, Dan on the front foot. Pushing through the fatigue he’s mixing in takedowns with his strikes and it pays dividends. Back on the mat with control, Argueta has begun to take complete control. He grids the round out and secured the unanimous decision (30-27, 30-27, 30-27).
