Daniel Cormier issued an apology to Raul Rosas Jr (8-1) after his post fight interview in the octagon at Noche UFC.
On the main card, the 18 year old phenom bantamweight prospect opened up the Mexico independence day card. Rosas Jr got the victory in under a minute in the first round by TKO. In an angry matter, he took out Terence Mitchell (14-4). It was a big win for Rosas Jr has he just came off a lost to Christian Rodriguez (9-1) at UFC 287.
Daniel Cormier Explains His Apology
Following the impressive win, Daniel Cormier would go into the octagon to interview the kid.
While “DC” praises Rosas Jr on the win, he feels he shouldn’t have started with talking about the loss. After a UFC night, Cormier usually posts a video on his YouTube channel from the commentary booth. He would reflect on his interview inside the cage.
“Raul Rosas Jr. came back from the first time he ever lost in his career and had one of the greatest performances. He destroyed Terrence Mitchell. It was phenomenal to see, because you never know how a kid at 18 years old will respond.”
Daniel continued;
That being said, I feel like I didn’t do him justice by bringing up the loss as the first question. I feel like I should have led with something better as opposed to how he got over the adversity. I should have been in there to uplift Raul Rosas Jr. I shouldn’t have brought up his loss. For that, my bad, I shouldn’t have done it. My apologies to Raul.”
The former 2 divisional champ believe he could have praised the Raul Rosas Jr instead of remining him about his lost. Daniel Cormier must know how a big victory feels like and regrets bringing up the loss first.
