Daniel Cormier didn’t appreciate Joaquin Buckley’s comments after his win last weekend.
Daniel Cormier Appalled by Buckley Mentioning McGregor’s Mum in Call Out
Cormier wasn’t impressed with Joaquin Buckley’s comments. This was after Buckley badmouthed McGregor’s mother. Joaquin Buckley made headlines this week after he was able to get a spectacular unanimous decision victory against Nursulton Ruziboev. Buckley was able to go out and give an impressive performance. However, it is what happened afterwards which Daniel Cormier isn’t a fan of.
Daniel Cormier has since sat down with Chael Sonnen on the Good Guy/Bad Guy show which they host. During the conversation they were having, Daniel Cormier revealed that he wasn’t a fan of how Buckley called out McGregor. He went on to say how it was the worst way he could have handled it and Buckley should have avoided badmouthing McGregor’s mother.
“That was horrible, how do you do that? I just don’t know what he was doing. Then he goes and he calls Conor McGregor’s mom a bad name. It couldn’t have gotten worse. It was bad” Daniel Cormier explained to ESPN MMA
Joaquin Buckley made comments against McGregor’s whole bloodline. Buckley went on to poke fun at McGregor’s mother and accused the Irish fighter of only fighting lightweight fighters. Since this call-out happened UFC CEO Dana White has already responded to the call-out. Dana White has appeared to already shut down the possibility of Buckley fighting McGregor soon.
Currently, the Irish fighter already has his next fight booked. Conor McGregor will face Michael Chandler in the Main Event of UFC 303. This fight will be in the welterweight division. There has been a lot of hype for this fight with both fighters calling each other out over the last couple of years.
Conor McGregor Booked Against Michael Chandler at UFC 302
Conor McGregor is coming into this fight off the back of an injury. This injury has left him on the side lines for the last 3 years. However, McGregor is confident on the night he will be able to get the victory despite being on the side lines for a long period of time. On the other hand, Michael Chandler has waited a long time for this opportunity and has called out Conor McGregor multiple times. Michael Chandler will be entering this fight off the back of a submission defeat to Dustin Poirier in the 3rd round.
While discussing this fight, Daniel Cormier discussed how while being very useful, Michael Chandler will not be looking to use his wrestling against Conor McGregor. According to Daniel Cormier, wrestling does use a lot of cardio and this is something which Daniel Cormier feels is lacking from Michael Chandler.
“[Chandler] will not [wrestle] and you know why…? For years we’ve been saying ‘Michael Chandler needs to use his wrestling’, and then he did it against Dustin Poirier and he got tired, and then Dustin submitted him. And because of that, he will never go back to that. He knows that fighting in the stand-up fight, you get less fatigued” Daniel Cormier revealed to ESPN MMA
In Michael Chandler’s last fight, he was unsuccessful. Chandler lost due to a rear naked choke in the 3rd round which was a big opportunity for the former Bellator Champion to climb the UFC Rankings. However, he will now have his shot at one of the biggest names in the UFC. If he can secure the victory against the Irishmen he is sure to climb the rankings even further.
Will either fighter make a statement on their return on UFC 302.
