UFC Commentator Daniel Cormier was rather amused by reading Khabib Nurmagoemdov’s top fifteen greatest of all time list.
For decades, sports fans across the globe have argued, debated, and went back-and-forth on who’s the greatest individual to compete in their chosen sport. The sport of MMA has always been an ongoing conversation with names such as Jon Jones, George St-Pierre, Anderson Silva and Demetrious Johnson all at the top of the mountain.
On Twitter, Nurmagomedov listed his top fifteen list, and he humbly excluded himself from the list. The former UFC lightweight champion retired, boasting a (29-0) undefeated record. At the top of his list sat Jon Jones, who he had tied alongside Fedor Emelianenko as the greatest mixed martial artist of all time. Despite being a “top-15 list”, the Dagestani native named 20 fighters, having numerous equally placed.
Khabib Nurmagomedov Reveals GOAT List, Daniel Cormier Reacts
In the fifth spot, Nurmagomedov named his former teammate Cormier. Although the former two-weight champion was grateful to be included in the list, he did find it humorous. On a recent episode of ‘DC and RC’, Cormier detailed why he found the list so funny.
“You know what I love about Khabib’s list? The names are all together, there’s no spacing in any of this list,” Daniel Cormier joked on the DC and RC podcast. “He done re-named about five of these dudes too, he done changed Demetrious Johnson’s name. He puts Henry Cejudo with an ‘H’ instead of a ‘J’, I love that! I love that Khabib is like, ‘Yo, I’m calling you whatever I want!’”
He continued, “Yes, I love that!… He don’t want no space bar, he’s the man. I love Khabib dog, thank you Khabib for looking out for your boy. Putting me in the top five, maybe top seven, with a couple of names. There’s a couple of names in there all jumbled up, so your boy is in the top seven, I appreciate that.”
