Daniel McCabe sends Yakup Kurt a strong message ahead of their catchweight clash at Goliath Fight Series 3 on Saturday April 29th.
The Scottish promotion are all set for their third instalment this weekend at the Lochgelly Centre in Lochgelly. Promoters Steven Harris and Chris Duncan have put together an action packed evening of action for the sold out crowd attending.
Ahead of his debut, we had the pleasure of speaking with Daniel McCabe before he makes the walk. Hear his thoughts below.
Interview With Daniel McCabe
Saturday night, you make your debut in front of a loud and rowdy crowd at the Lochgelly Centre in Lochgelly. One week out, how are you dealing with the nerves/emotions?
I’m feeling good for Saturday night. I know I have done the preparation and fighting needed for this win, so my nerves and emotions have been kept under control. I have a great set of coaches and have 100% faith that they have shown me what it takes to win.
Talk us through your introduction into MMA. What made you make the decision to start training and walk through the gym doors for the first time?
I have been training in martial arts since the age of 3 with a black belt and many titles in karate and years of boxing, so I then decided it was time to join Forza mma and learn the tools needed to start fighting in mma.
Saturday night, you make the walk against fellow debutant Yakup Kurt. Does it make it easier on your side knowing your opponent’s going through all the same nerves, anxiety, and feelings that you are for the first time?
I believe anything can happen in the cage, so knowing I am fighting someone and also making their debut doesn’t change anything. I will show him the respect I would like any other fighter, but as soon as the cage doors shut, it’s go time.
Daniel McCabe Talks Debut
Making your debut can be a monumental moment in somebody’s MMA journey. Saying that can we expect to see good support turnout for you when you make the walk for the first time?
My friends and family are incredibly supportive and will be coming to watch me make my debut alongside many who will be watching from home.
Although you train in the sport, do you also watch and keep up to date with the mainstream stuff in the sport? Who are some fighters that inspire and you enjoy watching?
I have always loved watching the mainstream mma, but I especially look up to fighters like Connor Mcgregor and Israel Adesanya. I love their fighting styles and how they can hit you from all angles.
What can your supporters expect from you come fight night? How does Daniel McCabe leave victorious with a win over Yakup Kurt?
My supporters can expect an exciting fight from me and will definitely be looking to put on a show for everyone in the audience. I’m going for that knockout.
The Next Move
Depending on how Saturday night unfolds, are you looking to get back in there relatively quickly and build up some experience, or where’s your head at in that sense?
After Saturday night, I have a title fight. I am fighting for the junior featherweight title against Regan O’Brien Bellamy on the 28th of May in Edinburgh, so I am hoping to go out Saturday and show everyone what I can do.
Finally, to close out, leave us with your official fight prediction and any last words for your opponent.
The fight will end in a finish. His body will not be able to endure the pain coming for three long rounds on Saturday night. I’m gonna knock you out.
