Daniel Myers promises to show the best version of himself in his Golden Ticket Fight Promotions 22 clash with Callum Turberfield.
The pair are set to collide at the K.K Steelmill in Wolverhampton on June 3rd. Myers enters the bout in good form having picked up victories in his last two outings, aiming to make it three straight wins under the GTFP banner.
Ahead of his first walk to the Octagon of 2023, we had the chance to catch up with Daniel Myers. Hear what he had to say below.
Interview With Daniel Myers
It’s fight week, and you’re looking to continue building that momentum from 2022. How are you feeling heading into Saturday night’s bout with Callum Turberfield while you’re sitting on a two-fight win streak?
I feel great; I feel like I’m heading in the right direction. From fight to fight, I’m improving, and I hope to do that for each fight I’m going to have. I’m also excited to get back into there; by the time I step back into the cage, it’ll be nine long months since my last fight, so I can’t wait.
You started your career with two back-to-back losses and now find yourself with two strong wins behind you. What clicked and changed for you in order for you to begin getting these performances and wins under your belt?
I knew something was wrong by the way I was losing my fights. I felt like I could have gotten the wins if I had better mental approval going into the cage. My opponents were good, and there’s a chance I would have lost anyway, but I don’t think I gave myself the best chance by the way I was thinking in there.
I see on your social media’s you have been working with Therapy With Rob. What sort of impact has he had on your mental side of the game, and how long have you been working with one another?
Therapy With Rob is exactly what I needed on the mental side of things. Getting into the cage before, I wasn’t performing as I should have because of how I was thinking. Rob gave me a different perspective on the way I think about and how to approach my fights. I think my last performances show that.
Callum enters the fight 2-1 and, in his last fight, is handed his first defeat. What do you make of him as an opponent and the skill set he will bring to the cage?
Callum looks like a dangerous fighter. He’s got the power to put lights out and a good blast double against the cage. He’s quite aggressive with his approach both in the striking and wrestling. He made a couple of mistakes in his last fight, so I’m expecting the best fighter he can be come fight night. This one is gonna be a fun one.
When the fight was announced, you said you were going to put on a show. What can those attending expect to see from you on June 3rd?
The best version of myself is coming into the cage on June 3rd. I’ve been putting in so much work at Team Underground; I’m coming down in weight again for this one, so Steve has been making me work like a madman. I’ve had some really good training partners helping me as well, so I’m expecting a good performance from me.
Finally, are there any last words for your opponent ahead of battle or anyone you’d like to thank?
Let’s put on a show! Thank you to Coach Steve, Coach Ricco, Therapy With Rob, Coach Charlie and everyone down at Team Underground.
