BKFC President David Feldman revealed that he has spoken to Darren Till and Anthony Pettis regarding matchups with Mike Perry.
Speaking as a guest on the MMA Hour, Feldman came on to announce Mike Perry VS. Thiago Alves as the main event of BKFC Knuckle Mania 4. Perry now holds a 4:0 record in the promotion, with wins over former UFC champions Luke Rockhold and Eddie Alvarez.
However, before booking Alves to fight Perry, he was in talks with both Darren Till and Anthony Pettis.
“He (Till) asked me for a number, I gave him that number and then he came back and said he wanted to take a boxing match or two before he wanted to step into the BKFC ring. So we had deep talks with him and his team.”
Since asking for his release from the UFC in February 2023, Till is yet to compete in any capacity.
Feldman explained that Pettis was a similar case. Wanting to do another boxing match before becoming involved in the BKFC scene.
Pettis, a former UFC lightweight champion, has stayed active in the combat sports world following his UFC departure. We have seen ‘Showtime’ compete in MMA, beat Roy Jones Jr in professional boxing and most recently beat Bendson Henderson in Karate Combat.
Future Opponents for Mike Perry
According to Feldman, the fight being in April was one of the major factors in not being able to seal a deal with either fighter. He remains confident that both Till and Pettis are still options for Perry in 2024.
“I wouldn’t be surprised if you saw Anthony Pettis and Mike Perry later on this year. Or even Darren Till and Mike Perry later on this year, it just wasn’t able to happen this fast for this card.”
Mike Perry has actively shown interest in the Pettis fight during his BKFC tenure. After defeating Eddie Alarez last December, he called out Pettis – calling the ‘Showtime’ matchup an amazing fight.
