Swedish newspaper Expressen reported on the situation, citing a police report stating Darren Till was arrested on July 31st whilst driving at high speeds “noticeably intoxicated” in Stockholm. According to the report, the UFC middleweight initially denied being at the wheel, but later admitted to driving the vehicle.
Police stated that Till tested above the legal limit three times during breath tests for alcohol.
The 29-year-old scouser has been a frequent visitor in Stockholm during the last year to train with close friend Khamzat Chimaev, who will headline UFC 279 versus Nate Diaz. Darren Till has not fought in almost a year, and recently had a bout with Jack Hermansson cancelled after an undisclosed injury in July.
Darren Till’s UFC Run
Till has had a rocky road in the UFC, to say the least. After his spectacular rise of popularity in 2017, due to big wins over division standouts Donald Cerrone and Stephen ‘Wonderboy’ Thompson, Till would noticeably not be the same after failing to win the welterweight title versus Tyron Woodley. After this, Till would lose in his home-town to a vicious knockout from Jorge Masvidal. Since then, Till has moved up to middleweight, where he has gone 1-2 in the division.
