In a recent post on social media, Britain’s Darren Till stated that MMA is ‘greater’ than the sport of boxing.
Till took to Twitter following the confirmation of Gilbert Burns vs Khamzat Chimaev at UFC 273.
Till said, following the announcement: “Boxing is great, but MMA is greater. The @ufc make the fights the fans, and the world wants to see…This doesn’t happen with boxing.
“In the @ufc the best fight the best. In boxing there’s a millions world champs saying they are the best…
Argue in the comments…”

For over fifty years, boxing has dominated combat sports. Their big events continued to be unrivalled by many other organisations.
With that being said, ever since the pandemic hit, it would appear that Mixed Martial Arts has overtaken boxing.
Is MMA Better Than Boxing?
Since the superstardom’s rise of the UFC, the promotion has continued to deliver big events. In the UFC, the best fight the best.
Arguments can be made that boxing do whatever they can to try and preserve fighters’ unbeaten records.
The idea of a boxer losing will only then decrease their stock, and possible PPV buys going forward.
In the UFC, if a fighter is worthy of competing for the title, Dana White offers them the opportunity to compete for gold.
It only adds to the excitement of knowing that a better fighter may beat a champion.
The debate as to which sport is better will go on forever. However, in recent times, it’s fair to say that the sport of boxing is playing catch up.
What do you think? Is MMA bigger, or is Boxing still the biggest combat sport on the planet?
