As Israel Adesanya gears up for his main event bout against Dricus Du Plessis at UFC 305, he’s receiving some unexpected advice from a former opponent. Darren Till, who has faced Du Plessis in the past, has shared his thoughts on how Adesanya can approach the fight.
The stakes are high as Adesanya and Du Plessis prepare to clash at the RAC Arena in Perth, Western Australia, this Saturday. Tensions between the middleweight champion, Du Plessis, and the former champion, Adesanya, have been escalating in the lead-up to their highly anticipated encounter.
Adesanya is making his return after the longest break of his career. It has been 11 months since he last fought, when he faced Sean Strickland. During his time away, Adesanya focused on recovering from injuries and building muscle. He also used this period to refine his approach to training and nutrition.
“This fight camp has been different,” Adesanya admitted. “I’ve adjusted my diet and lifestyle to live like a real athlete. It’s the first time I’ve really approached it this way.”
Former UFC Star Darren Till Sends Advice to Israel Adesanya on How to Beat Dricus du Plessis at UFC 305
Despite the careful preparation, Adesanya has been given additional insights from Darren Till. Till has provided some tactical advice for Adesanya, suggesting a strategy to counter Du Plessis’ style.
In a recent post on X, Till shared his thoughts on how Adesanya could gain an edge. “Got some advice for Izzy on how to fight DDP on Saturday,” Till began. “Use lots of feints. He reacts to them a lot and throws from a distance. You can then step back and decide whether to go for a punch combo, knee, or maybe a kick.”
Till continued, “You’re a high-level striker, so you know what I’m talking about. As Du Plessis rushes in, use what worked against Rob. I did something similar, but yours knocked Rob out while mine didn’t. DDP will come in aggressively.”
“Instead of backing away like some strikers do, stand your ground,” Till advised. “Hit him with a punch combo or a knee up the middle. Hope this helps you, Izzy.”
As the fight approaches, Du Plessis has been vocal about his thoughts on Adesanya’s readiness. The champion believes Adesanya may lack the fire needed to compete at the highest level. Du Plessis has even suggested that Adesanya should consider pulling out of the fight.
“If I were in his shoes right now, I’d find a way to pull out of this fight,” Du Plessis told New York Post Sports. “I’m coming in feeling great, better than ever. The fire inside me is stronger than his, and that’s where my opinion comes from. I’m hungrier than I’ve ever been.”
For Adesanya, a victory at UFC 305 would not only secure his place as a three-time UFC middleweight champion but also potentially solidify his legacy as one of the greatest 185-pound fighters of all time.
As both fighters prepare for this crucial matchup, the advice from Darren Till and the comments from Du Plessis add an extra layer of intrigue to the bout. Fans will be watching closely to see how Adesanya’s preparation and strategy play out against the determined champion, Dricus Du Plessis.
