arry Ian Garry was surprisingly upbeat after his first professional MMA defeat. Following praise from Conor McGregor, Grry spoke to reports at the UFC 310 post-fight press conference, expressing that he didn’t feel like he lost, despite the official unanimous decision defeat. Garry stated;
“I don’t feel like I lost today,”
“I might not have had my hand raised, but I went in there and fought a giant, the boogeyman of the division, and I proved he’s just human.”
“I took this fight on three weeks’ notice, I saved the event, and went up against the scariest guy in the division. I stopped almost everything he threw at me. There was never a point where he looked like he was going to finish the fight. I had him in two submissions, took his back, and had fun with it.”
“I showed I can hang with the best in the division. On short notice, I proved I can be a champion, I can go five rounds, and there are no holes in my game. He didn’t bring anything I couldn’t handle tonight.”
“He won by opinion, and that’s okay. I can live with that.”
