Darren Till is hinting at a return to the UFC, sparking interest among fans and the online MMA community. The former welterweight and middleweight contender, who had been a significant presence in both divisions, recently became the subject of some playful jabs from Dricus du Plessis. This came after du Plessis successfully defended his 185lb title against Israel Adesanya at UFC 305.
Du Plessis couldn’t resist having a bit of fun at Till’s expense, especially given their history:
“Darren Till, any advice on beating Izzy? Please coach me, any advice will help,” the champion quipped on social media, following his four-round submission victory over Adesanya. This comment was clearly aimed at Till, who had publicly offered advice to Adesanya on how to defeat du Plessis during the lead-up to UFC 305.

For context, Till had faced du Plessis back in December 2022 and, despite landing some decent shots, was ultimately outclassed in the wrestling department. The bout ended in the third round with Till tapping out, marking the beginning of a rough patch in his career. Following three consecutive losses, Till parted ways with the UFC, though he later claimed that he had requested Dana White to release him from his contract.
Till’s confidence in Adesanya at UFC 305 was evident when he shared a screenshot of a $5,000 (£3,860) bet, confidently predicting, “Dricus is getting rawdogged. Easy money.” Unfortunately for Till, his bet didn’t pan out as he expected. After du Plessis secured the win, Till initially responded to the champion’s light-hearted jab with a mix of humour and disappointment, reposting the comment with a crying laughing emoji and a sad emoji.
Not one to back down, Till then proposed an idea to Dana White, the UFC president. “I might come back to the UFC just to beat DDP & leave again. What you saying Dana White?” he tweeted. While the idea of Till returning for a rematch with du Plessis might excite some fans, it seems unlikely that the UFC will entertain the proposal, especially with Sean Strickland already lined up to face du Plessis in a rematch later this year.

In the meantime, Till’s focus seems to have shifted towards boxing, where he’s looking to make a name for himself. In July, he made his debut in the squared circle against Mohammad Mutie, a fighter with a 2-2-1 MMA record. Till won the bout by TKO after Mutie couldn’t recover from an illegal rabbit punch. The post-fight scene quickly turned chaotic, with a brawl breaking out in the ring involving both fighters and their teams.
As Till continues his transition into boxing, he’s eyeing some big-name opponents for his next fight. Among those on his radar are popular influencers and fighters like KSI, Tommy Fury, and Jake Paul. These potential matchups would not only draw significant attention but also offer Till the chance to establish himself in a new combat sport.
