Liverpool’s own Darren Till has finally responded to rampant rumors of his UFC release. According to ‘The Gorilla’, it wasn’t a cut, but rather something he asked the UFC to do so he could “Sort some other sh*t for the foreseeable (future)”.
At only 30, it seems Till has been a UFC star for eons now. The young UK MMA fighter was thrust into the spotlight at an early age and billed as the next UK world champion. Till has had his highlights but is currently experiencing rock bottom. Currently 1-5 since 2018, with five canceled fights as well, it’s not been all smiles and sunshine for the young star. Till last saw UFC action against Dricus Du Plessis and succumbed to a third-round rear naked choke. This was his second loss in a row to the same submission. Previous to that, It was an RNC by Derek Brunson that put him away, also in round three.
So far, there has been no news on whether Till seeks competition within other fight organizations or is merely just seeking some time away from the sport. Only time will tell, but at 30 years of age, it does not seem like all hope is lost for the young UK star.
Darren Till Responds to UFC Release
The news of Till’s release first came about when a Twitter page first reported the news. The page itself is allegedly controlled by an AI that tracks movement on the UFC’s roster. While it has been known to be wrong before, on this occasion, it seems to have at least been partially correct.
The next morning, UK star Darren Till responded to the news. He shed light on some of the thought processes behind the decision and hinted that it was just for a short while as opposed to forever. “What’s happening everyone,” Till began. “Me, Dana & Hunter are still cool as fuck. I asked UFC 2 remove me just 2 sort some other shit for the foreseeable.”
“They happily agreed to release me out of contract,” He continued. “Which I appreciate. I’m not going anywhere, got big plans to execute & I’ll be back.”
