Former elite UFC contender Darren Till was scheduled to make his Misfits Boxing debut in January against Tommy Fury.
At the beginning of December Fury announced he was withdrawing from the contest sparking outrage in the media. The reasoning given by Fury was that he believe Till would not adhere to the Boxing rules and regulations. This belief stems from Till stating in a pre fight press conference he would “just kick you in the face in there” if he was losing the fight. Till is a seasoned professional with over 20 professional MMA fights he has never been disqualified for breaking rules or not abiding by them. Therefore when the reasoning broke many fans and Till himself did not believe that was the real reason for withdrawal. There has been radio silence from Fury since the announcement whereas Till has let loose on all social media.

Till reiterated he did not believe Fury’s reason for pulling out and he clarified this when speaking to Ariel Helwani on the Ariel Helwani Show.
The MMA star has been training in the North West in the Rotunda Gym, a ferocious gym with excellent UK boxers. The likes of Liam Smith has been a main sparring partner for Till in his ongoing training camp. For Till it appears he will remain on the card against a late replacement but it won’t be as anticipated as the original scheduled fight. Considering some of the pre fight antics pulled by the Fury team in the past particularly John Fury, the pull out is understandably leaving a sour taste in the mouth of fans.
The future for Darren Till could be a number of names the likes of Jake Paul, Mike Perry and Billy Joe Saunders have all been mentioned. However on this short notice they will be unlikely. Ultimately, UK fight fans want to see Till back where he belongs with the UFC competing at the highest level. Whether that happens in the next 12-18 months that is unclear but the foray into boxing as always going to be an intriguing venture.
