David Benavidez has made a massive statement to the whole Light Heavyweight warning them of his talent.
Benavidez has recently moved up to Light Heavyweight after failing to secure a bout with Canelo Alvarez at Super Middleweight.
The first real test at Light Heavyweight for Benavidez will be on February 1st against David Morrell which some have picked as a early fight of the year contender.
The American Light Heavyweight has been very vocal on his future at the division.
Benavidez has made his commitments to Light Heavyweight clear this week.
“I’m gonna make an example out of him for the rest of the light heavyweight division to see that I’m not playing with nobody.”
David Benavidez Senior Is Confident-
David is no the only Benavidez who is confident of the gameplay going into February 1st.
Benavidez Senior is also got his very strong thoughts on how it goes down.
“We have our game plan of what we’re going to do with this guy [Morrell]. We’re going to take him to the deep waters and try to drown him. Let’s see if he can swim. Amateur and professional, it’s a little bit different. But you’re fighting David Benavidez.
Despite the threatening messages being sent across from team Benavidez, David Morrell isn’t scared.
Morrell has sent his own message across to Benavidez and all Morrell’s doubters.
“Every time after the fight Benavidez says I’m the boogieman no one wants to fight me. What are you saying I’m RIGHT HERE”
The two will face off for the Interim WBC Light Heavyweight title whilst the full title will stay with Artur Bertebiev for his 2nd bout with Bivol on February 22nd.
Even though it won’t be for the full title both have been assured the next shot at the champion will be the winner of this fight.
“Interim champion David Benavidez will fight David Morrell on February 1. The winner will be the mandatory challenger of the division to fight the winner of Beterbiev vs. Bivol.”
Both will come face to face each other on February 1st for PBC’s first pay per view event of the year.
