Battle Arena Birmingham takes place on March 19th at New Bingley Hall as they launch their Pro divisions. David Khalsa features on the main card as he takes on Ahmed Mesref at 70kg following his knockout win over Nick Heyes at Battle Arena 62. While his record is currently 3-6, that doesn’t tell the whole story. He has fought a whos who of regional talent including Dylan Tuke, Dominique Wooding, and Nicolae Pirogan to name a few. Hoping to keep momentum on Saturday, we caught up with David ahead of his bout.
David Khalsa Interview
Hi David, Thanks for taking the time out on fight week for an interview. How has camp been this fight?.
Hi mate, It’s been good. I have a new team behind me and I’m feeling great. Living the dream and feeling strong.
You managed to get the knockout win in your last fight, swarming your opponent and leaving him out on his feet. How do you assess that performance looking back?
I think it was a good start to the next chapter in my career at 70kg. I am believing more in my power and ability to stop opponents.
You had a rough losing streak before the win, did you always have faith you could turn it around and get back on track?
It’s the fight game. You have got to take the rough with the smooth, the highs and lows, dig deep and go again.
I love this sport, and I will always back myself. Obviously, my new team and coaches at three points martial arts academy have given me the skills and confidence to go again.
Your opponent is making his Battle Arena debut on Saturday, while you have been in there with some of the best regional talents around. How big a factor do you think your experience will be in the fight?
I know he has had a couple of fights and is a former Thai boxing champion, but my prep is always the same. They always bring their A-game because they know they got a fight.
How do you think this one ends?
By any means necessary. I am getting the win.
Finally, If successful, How quickly do you plan on getting back in there?
As soon as possible. Any opportunities that present themselves, I’m going to take them.
