However, before this win, Font faced a couple of setbacks with unanimous decision losses to Marlon Vera in April 2022 and José Aldo in December 2021. Deiveson Figueiredo
Deiveson Figueiredo brings a formidable record of 21 wins, 3 losses, and 1 draw into this fight. Known for his powerful striking and submission skills, Figueiredo has experienced a series of high-profile bouts recently, specifically in the Flyweight division. Figueiredo Batters Font in Bantamweight Debut
Round 1 opened up slow with Font pressuring Figueiredo to the cage while he bounced side to side. Font pushed the action with his jab and was able to fend off most takedown attempts easily. The round was going well for Font until Figueiredo landed a big left hook that caught his attention. He followed that up with a right hand that hurt Font and had him on the back foot to end the round.
Figueiredo opened the 2nd round with an effective clinch that controlled the early stages. The 2nd round consisted of Font chasing Figueiredo around to mostly little success as Figgy landed counterpunches. The round ended with Figueiredo stalking Font down to close out another strong round.
Font came out hard in round 3 after likely being down two rounds, finding success hitting Figueiredo while walking him down. Things quickly changed when Figueiredo landed another massive left hook about a minute into the round, buckling the knees of Font and forcing him against the cage. Figueiredo stayed patient instead of pushing for the kill which led to him landing some bombs while stalking Font along the cage. The two exchanged in the center of the cage before the former flyweight champion secured a successful single-leg takedown. He rode out top position for the rest of the fight and
The scorecards were unanimous in favor of the Brazilian, who secured all 3 rounds in a dominant display. With such an impressive win over the #8 contender in his debut, a top-5 matchup could be next for the former champion.
