Derek Chisora’s Best Fight Week Moments
Today was Derek Chisora’s final UK press conference, so we’ve decided to look back at his greatest fight week moments.
Derek Chisora Flips The Table
Arguably one of his most famous presser incidents. Back in 2016 in the buildup to Derek Chisora’s fight with fellow British heavyweight Dillian Whyte was intense. A lot was said in the build up to their encounter. However the biggest moment was at the final press conference. The two were embroiled in a heated exchange when suddenly Chisora picked up, and then flipped the table, launching it towards Whyte’s team. Chisora went on to lose to Whyte by narrow points defeat.
Slapping Vitali Klitschko & Brawl With Haye in One Week
Once again another famous Derek Chisora moment. Back in 2012 in the weigh in before fading Klitschko, Chisora couldn’t hold back and then decided to slap Vitali around the face.
However that wasn’t the only viral moment that week. Day before the weigh in, fellow British heavyweight David Haye decided to gatecrash the press conference moments after Chisoras defeat to Klitschko. Chisora didn’t take this lightly and got in the face of the British heavyweight, which in the end sparked a magnificent brawl. The two did have much history before this, with Chisora staying he would ‘break his jaw’ when he sees him.
Chisora put his knuckles Hayes face but Haye landed the first real blow to Chisora with a huge punch while holding a glass bottle. Haye then tried to fight Chisora’s trainer. Chisora was arrested in Munich, and was then bailed but Haye went into hiding and flew back to Vegas. One of the craziest weeks of Chisora’s insanely action packed career!
Derek Chisora Kisses Carl Baker
Another crazy moment of Chisora’s fight week antics. This time at the weigh in, Chisora face to face with his opponent Carl Baker. However as the pair stood face to face Chisora grabbed Baker and decided to kiss him. Much to Bakers anger and frustration. However he didn’t vent that with Chisora making easy work of Baker the following night.
Derek Chisora Bites Paul Butlin
Finally we move to the final ‘best moment’ of Chisora’s fight week antics. This time it’s in the ring, on fight night. Chisora was facing Paul Butlin in 2009. Arguably the first real notorious moment of Chisora’s career. At this point he was a prospect, climbing the rankings. It seemed it was going to be an easy nights work for Chisora cruising the fight… until unexpectedly he decided to bite Butlin’s shoulder. Chisora did win the fight via points decision, but as to no surprise was suspended for four months after the incident.
Chisora’s Final Fight Week
And here it is.. the final fight week of Derek Chisora’s career. Already there’s some great moments. Today as the press conference Chisora was wearing a ‘Reform UK’ merch hat. Another classic Chisora moment at today’s presser was when Gareth A Davies phone went off, and Chisora went in on him, saying he ‘wouldn’t do that at his workplace’. It’s not over yet and we will likely have another classic Chisora moment later this week in his final UK fight week.
