As the countdown begins for Goliath Fight Series 6 on March 23, all eyes are on Derek Lynas as he gears up for his second appearance in the cage. Since his debut, Derek has been overwhelmed by the outpouring of support from fans and the curious glances from sceptics who question his decision to step into the ring at the age of 41.
Reflecting on his debut victory over Jashan Daniel at Goliath Fight Series 5, Derek acknowledges the significance of his first-round knockout. However, he remains eager to showcase a broader range of skills this time around:
“Hopefully, with the knowledge I have picked up at Goliath since then, I might see a finish with other skill sets,” Derek shares optimistically.
Despite securing a quick victory in his debut, Derek admits he would have liked the opportunity to display more of his grappling prowess. Nevertheless, he emphasizes that the priority for any fighter is to emerge victorious without sustaining injuries.

“We just try to cover as many bases as possible, and all the boys at Goliath push me (despite my age) to level up,” Derek explains, crediting his team for their integral role in his preparation.
Looking ahead to Goliath Fight Series 6, Derek admits uncertainty about what to expect but expresses his desire to entertain the crowd and ignite the energy at the Rothes halls:
“I honestly don’t know what to expect, but I do hope to put on a show and get that crowd off their arses and get the Rothes halls rocking,” Derek states with enthusiasm.
In closing, Derek extends his gratitude to his training partners and coaches who have supported him throughout his journey. “I’d love to put a special mention to Steven Harris, Scot Malone, Chris Duncan, Ben Fletcher, and my S&C coach Alan Black.
