Knockout king and former title challenger Derrick Lewis is stepping in on short notice to fight Jailton Almeida. “The Black Beast” will step in for Curtis Blaydes at UFC Fight Night Sao Paulo as the new main event on November 4th.
Lewis recently signed a new 8 fight contract after his spectacular 1st round finish. In his last fight, at UFC 291, Lewis faced Marcos Rogerio De Lima and landed a flying knee in the opening seconds of the fight. This got him one of the performances bonus that night. Which prompted as well a new 8 fight deal with the UFC as he was set to become a free agent. Lewis has the record for most knockouts in the UFC and still going.
Report Is Derrick Lewis Versus Jailton Almeida
Derrick Lewis will be stepping in on short notice. The initial report came from Ag. Fight, Eliot Marshall Trainee, Curtis Blaydes will no longer be in Sao Paulo on November 4th.. He will face surging heavyweight contender and Dana White Contender Series alumni, Jailton Almeida. For Almeida, his last fight was back in May for UFC Charlotte when he did quick work of Jairzinho Rozenstruik. Almeida got the rear naked choke finish in first round. Now the number 9th ranked Brazilian is looking for a step up in competition.
In Lewis’ case, his last fight, he broke his loosing streak of 3 fights and 4 losses in his last 5. Those losses came from Tai Tuivasa, Cyril Gane, Sergei Pavlovich and Sergey Spivak. Needing a step down in competition, UFC faced him off against Marcos Rogerio De Lima and regained his confidence back. Now stepping on short notice, which the people of the UFC love that, he will face a surging contender hoping to get a winning streak going. We shall see on November 4th in Sao Paulo.
