As of yesterday, the UFC and WWE are slated to merge into one company with separate branches. Two men who faced off in the Octagon; Tai Tuivasa and Derrick Lewis might make the jump into the sports entertainment business, according to Vegas.
Unfamiliar Waters for Combat Sports, Derrick Lewis
Many people have argued that mixed martial arts share promotional roots and antics with professional wrestling. Thus, the new merger between the two blurs the line. As the saying goes, anyone will bet on anything, and OddsBible has capitalized on it. Odds have crept up for all sorts of UFC-WWE crossovers, including prop bets for a tag team event at 20/1 odds. A 2024 co-event from the UFC and WWE sit at 5/7 for yes and 1/1 for no. Odds even put Dana White to become WWE president at 25/1.
UFC fan favorites known for their antics, Tai Tuivasa and Derrick Lewis are at 4/1 and 5/1, respectively. Lewis previously called out the Undertaker and expressed interest in joining the WWE. Next up came Liverpudlians Molly McCann and Paddy Pimblett at 4/1 and 5/1. Pimblett got into it with wrestler MJF, who then attended a Pimblett fight.
The last fighter to jump from the UFC to the WWE was Ronda Rousey, who was a solid draw at the time, but fell out of favor with the promotion.
Other Fighters Who Might Make the Jump
One thing is for sure- none of these fighters are slouches when it comes to antics and sound bytes, making them perfect for the jump to professional wrestling. Even Conor McGregor sat at 9/1 after he posted a picture holding both the WWE and UFC belts, and so this seems like a steal. After all, who would be a bigger draw than Conor McGgregor?
Out of those fighters, it seems that Tai Tuivasa and Derrick Lewis would fare the best in the wrestling ring. However, there are more odds listed for Dustin Poirer at 10/1, Amanda Nunes at 14/1, Jon Jones at 20/1, and Israel Adesanya at 25/1.
