Dillon Danis criticised the achievements of Jon Jones.
Jones, who is arguably the greatest fighter of all time, beat Stipe Miocic to reclaim his belt.
However, Dillon Danis believes that Jon Jones and Floyd Mayweather are similar.
Jon Jones Fails to Impress Dillon Danis
After Jon Jones successfully defended his belt this weekend, MMA fans were quick to applaud the champion. However, not everyone was impressed especially Dillon Danis. Writing on X (Twitter) the American wrote; “Jon Jones is the Floyd Mayweather of MMA. Think about it—he’s never fought any fighter in their prime. It’s always been either too early or too late. He’s made a career out of perfect matchmaking. Think about it and tell me I’m wrong?”
This is in response to Jon Jones avoiding a potential fight with Tom Aspinall who is the interim champion. Jones has repeatedly called out light heavyweight champion Alex Pereira out to a fight. Many fans believe Jones is ‘ducking’ Aspinall and wants an easier fight. Dillon Danis certainly believes so and offered his opinion on X with many fans agreeing in the comments below the post.
Dillon Danis is one of several fighters wanting Jones to face off with Aspinall with Michael Bisping believing that the fight should materialise. Dana White is also of the same opinion by making it clear that Aspinall is next for Jones. Any potential fight with Periera will not be made by the UFC until Jones has faced Aspinall.
What Is Next for Dillon Danis?
The American hasn’t fought since his loss to Logan Paul. Danis briefly wanted the UFC to sign him but that was brutally rejected by Dana White despite the pleas of Sean O’Malley. Blessed with elite wrestling skills Danis has been plagued with injuries throughout his MMA career with fans ridiculing him on social media. It does seem that retirement is most likely his option with no promotion unwilling to sign him.
