Former United States President Donald Trump has given his backing to Mike Tyson as he prepares to make his ring return against Jake Paul.
Mike Tyson is going to be turning 58 years old this year, and he will be making his boxing comeback on November 15th. This will be against Jake Paul in one of the most anticipated fights of the year. The two heavyweights will be competing in the AT&T stadium in Dallas, with around 60,000 tickets already believed to be sold.
Former president Trump, whose re-election bid comes to a head tonight in America, is a fan of both fighters. He has famously hosted a number of Mike Tyson’s fights in his casinos in the 80s and has since formed a bond with both Jake and Logan Paul.
Donald Trump Heap Praise on Mike Tyson
Ahead of the big fight which will be streamed on Netflix, Donald Trump was asked for his prediction. He appeared on the ‘Let’s Go’ podcast with Bil Belichick, Maxx Crosby, Peter King and Jum Gray, and recalled his time working with Mike Tyson in his previous life as a real estate tycoon. Speaking about the fight Donald Trump said;
“Well, I know them both actually,”
“Jake is terrific. And I know him, I know the two brothers. And Mike is great. You know, look, I had Mike’s fight with [Michael] Spinks. I had, I think I had more Mike Tyson fights than anybody, and he was brutal.”
“Then one day, you know, he had a rough fight against Buster Douglas or whatever? He fought like one great fight. It was unbelievable how good he was at that fight. You know, I went to that fight. It was in Japan.”
“It was weird because it started at seven in the morning. You know, you get up and you go to a fight. Nobody could believe what the hell was happening, including Mike.”
“But Mike is a great guy, actually. He’s a different kind of a guy. He’s an amazing guy. He’s been very loyal to me. He endorsed me right away.”
Jake Paul and Mike Tyson both advocate for Trump
Both Jake Paul and Mike Tyson have been quite active in the political world. Both of these fighters have been advocates for Donald Trump to win another term in office. The YouTuber-turned-boxer was only 19 years old during the first election back in 2016 and had limited experience. However, since then he has embraced the controversial New Yorker’s re-election efforts.
Just this weekend he released an impassioned video officially endorsing the former president. This is in the presidential election where Donald Trump is facing the Democratic candidate and current Vice President Kamala Harris. Jake made a lengthy argument which was in favour of Donald Trump, laying his thoughts for his viewers.
Mike Tyson, on the other hand, has been relatively quiet during the current presidential race. However, he has previously been vocal in his support of Donald Trump. He even went as far as telling the Daily Caller in an aggressive 2019 interview that he was proudly voting for him in his initial re-election bid. Mike Tyson said this when he said;
“I’m voting for Trump, so what’s somebody going to do about it?”
“I like Donald Trump and I’m going to vote for him. So what? What are you going to do? Shoot me? Beat me up? “
