Dricus du Plessis proves he can be both a hammer and nail as he secures third-round submission over Darren Till at UFC 282.
An emphatic first round for Dricus du Plessis is almost near-perfect minus a finish. Securing a clinch, he held control for the majority of the round, landing clubbing blows repeatedly for around two minutes. Darren made a late surge but it wasn’t enough to overthrow the grappling dominance of du Plessis.
The second wasn’t ideal for the South African. Till began to turn the tide as a tired Dricus appeared drained after the heavy output of round one. It was Dricus’ turn to show some heart.
The third round started well for each man. Landing their shots and having moments of success. The tide ultimately turned once Dricus du Plessis returned to the grappling. Getting the fight to the mat, he gained mount quickly. Pounding on Darren, he left him no choice but to surrender his back for the choke. Dricus du Plessis gets the third round rear naked choke.

The South African sensation remains unblemished in the UFC with a 4-0 record. Gaining his biggest win to date Dricus du Plessis has put his name on the map as a Middleweight to watch.
#14 in the rankings before this bout, defeating #10 should see him take this spot next week. An exciting fighter, with a fan-friendly style, expect du Plessis to get a showcase bout next time out.
With Jack Hermansson, Roman Dolidze and Andre Muniz all free of opponents these could be potential opponents among others. As Middleweight has a lot of top contenders booked already, it’s hard to schedule a timeline for 2023.
