Dustin Poirier revealed he nearly clashed with Connor McGregor in Las Vegas.
The incident which took place a month ago when security separated the pair was down to the trash talk instigated by McGregor ahead of their third fight.
Poirier and McGregor have clashed three times with the American winning two fights.

Speaking on Ariel Helwani’s show Dustin Poirier said; “My agent was walking behind me and he grabs me. “Conor (McGregor) might’ve seen the back of my head, I don’t know.
“I didn’t see him. My agent grabbed my shoulders and said, ‘This way to the right, to the right.’ And once we got clear of everybody he was like, ‘Dude, we almost had a big problem.’ And that’s what that was.”
We just have such a long history, he said some foul things. “You ever watched Family Guy? You know when Peter and the chicken run into each other? They go on this crazy fight, they’re falling down hills, they’re fighting for an hour.”
That’s what would have happened. Yeah, for sure. If we would’ve made eye contact, if our eyes had met, it would have been bad, probably.”
Could We See Poirier vs McGregor 4?
After their last encounter which ended in a leg injury to McGregor and since then the pair have continuously exchanged words. During the build-up to that fight, McGregor insulted Dustin Poirier and his family.
Whilst Dustin won in the ring he revealed the animosity had not gone away. With McGregor set to return to the Octagon in 2025 and Poirier without a fight at the minute, it could lead to an unprecedented fourth fight in the UFC. Most rivalries in the organisation lead to two/three fights and tend to fizzle out. Due to the comments made by McGregor and Dustin’s wish to fight McGregor again, Dana White could book the fight in early 2025.
