A video has emerged from a Mardi Gras celebration which appears to show top lightweight contender Dustin Poirier who then slapped a fan. The fan in question first shows his sign to the camera before turning it in the direction of the incoming Dustin.
In the parade, Poirier and his wife are being driven through the crowd as onlookers cheers. Stood up and interacted with fans. Handing out high fives. When approached by the fan with the sign, the high five soon turns into a slap.
Thinking his joke was a funny one, the man with the sign didn’t take too kindly to the minor slap and then swapped showing Dustin the sign to show him the middle finger.
The UFC fighter then shrugged at this and indicated that he was happy to jump off the car and deal with the problem there and then. The car came to a halt but sensible heads prevailed and his wife Jolie among others talk Dustin out of getting physical.

Why Did the Sign Gain a Reaction?
The sign in question would irk Dustin because of its previous history with the Louisiana native. The phrase ‘Your wife’s in my DM’s’ stems from his long-running feud with MMA megastar Conor McGregor.
First fighting way back in 2014, Dustin and Conor had a tumultuous relationship, to say the least. When the pair were once again scheduled to face seven years later the beef seemed to be settled and the approach to the fight was friendly from each man. Exchanging gifts and pleasant words. Dustin won the bout via second-round TKO, but things remained friendly.
The aggravation would reignite in their third battle just six months later. Dustin took to Twitter to claim a promise made by McGregor, that he would donate a sizable sum to Poirier’s charity was not met. Conor took this personally and things turned sour.
The build-up to fight three was much more heated than the first two bouts. Each with one win in their trilogy the final bout would be crucial. Conor would take the stage with a ‘no more mister nice guy’ approach. Using all and every trick in the book to rattle Dustin. Poirier remained unphased for most of the trash talk before McGregor targeted his wife.
Dustin Poirier would win the third bout via first-round TKO due to a Conor leg break. After the bout, a still sour McGregor despite being in immense pain, took to the mic to berate Dustin and his family. With the line ‘Your wife’s in my DM’s’ rattling around the arena.
