With his eyes set on the upcoming Unity FC event on February 17th, Dylan Muir reflects on his debut year in the cage and gears up for his third MMA bout against CJ Cowling. Muir shares his thoughts on the importance of securing his first win, the lessons learned from his initial year of competition, and the invaluable support from his training camp at Fu Dog MMA.
“I was disappointed with myself in my debut in the first half of the year, losing via armbar in the first round,” Muir admits. “However, I am happy with my last performance in the Unity fighting championship and was very happy to get that first win under my belt.”

For Muir, securing that first win was crucial not only for his record but also for his confidence: “Yes, it was very important to get my first win banked,” he emphasizes. “Winning has given me more confidence and belief in my skills.”
Reflecting on the lessons learned from his first year of competition, Muir acknowledges the importance of consistency and the drive to win: “That losing isn’t for me, and being consistent in whatever I do leads to more improvements and wins in competition,” he states.
Muir attributes much of his growth and preparation to his training camp at Fu Dog MMA, highlighting the solid team of experienced amateurs and high-level Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu practitioners: “The gym is definitely rising,” he says: “It’s good having a solid team of people around you when you are preparing to fight.”
With his focus squarely on his own development, Muir approaches his upcoming bout with confidence and determination. “I have just been focusing on myself; I have improved a lot since my last fight,” he explains: “I’m aware of some of the threats he brings, but I believe I am better and know I’m more than capable of dealing with them.”
As Muir prepares to step back into the Unity FC cage, he promises fans another dominant performance: “You can expect another dominant performance,” he declares. “Expect to see a lot more from me on the feet and see me utilize my dominant positions on the ground.”
