Eddie Hearn believed that Tyson Fury looked “like he never laced up a pair of gloves before” during his fight with Francis Ngannou on Saturday night. He now believes that Anthony Joshua should be next to face the Gypsy King.
The Matchroom Boxing promoter gave his reaction during the DAZN show for O’Shaquie Foster vs Eduardo Hernandez.
“I thought Ngannou won by two rounds, the boxing world has gone mad. Forget Fury-Usyk no ones interested, just give us Fury against AJ (Anthony Joshua), AJ will knock Tyson Fury out inside six rounds!” said Hearn.
“Make the fight otherwise we will never get it.” he added.
Hearn also stated that he was “buzzing” for Joshua, believing that he now has a good opportunity to place himself on top of the heavyweight boxing scene.
“The heavyweight division got turned on its head tonight, and I believe he’s going to beat them all. Call me deluded, call me a fanboy, he knocks out Tyson Fury, no problem, he beats Deontay Wilder, no problem, and he definitely knocks out Francis Ngannou.”
Usyk Thoughts on Hearn Comment and Fury v Ngannou
Oleksandr Usyk believes that Hearn should be cautious when attempting to set up a fight between Ngannou and Anthony Joshua.
“After what we’ve seen, Ngannou can be a competitive player in the heavyweight division. Eddie Hearn – you talk too much.” said the Ukranian speaking to Boxing King Media.
The IBF, WBO and WBA heavyweight champion also stated how he was shouting advice to Fury during the fight on Saturday night.
He said: “I was nervous that our fight is in jeopardy. I even started to shout out to him some things like, ‘Use your jab, jab him faster, It looks weird, but the whole world wants to see this fight, that’s why it’s important that we do everything possible to make this fight happen.”
The fight will still take place according to promoter Frank Warren, though he has stated it will not take place on the original date of December 23rd.
