Dillian Whyte is now a free agent after suffering his 3rd career loss back in April (his last fight under Eddie Hearn). His loss came by way of a vicious uppercut in the 6th round at the hands of the top-tier WBC world heavyweight champion Tyson Fury.
Let the talks begin
In the lead-up to Dillian Whyte’s return to the squared circle, he has been engaging in talks with BOXXER, and Sky Sports (Eddie Hearn’s main UK competitors)
BOXXER, as a promotional company, has been making some noise lately within the UK boxing scene. A signing of Dillian Whyte would certainly be a big boost for them in the same way he has been for Eddie Hearn. Whyte is no stranger to working with Sky Sports or headlining. Having held the main event slot on many occasions on the broadcaster’s big shows. Anthony Joshua, Joseph Parker, Derek Chisora 1 and 2, Tyson Fury, Povetkin 1 and 2. These are some of Whytes best nights as the main event attraction; he knows how to sell a fight and provide ”bang for your buck” in the ring, a potentially great addition to the BOXXER promotion.
Ben Shalom, Founder of Boxxer, Had This to Say:
Shalom told Mirror Fighting when asked about the potential of signing Whyte,” He also knows that DAZN and BT are interested. He is coming off a loss that he will feel he probably wasn’t himself, but there are a lot of opportunities at the heavyweight division.”
I agree with that sentiment. Whyte still has a lot of big draw fights available to him within the heavyweight division. With Derek Chisora’s retirement on the horizon, a third and final showdown would be a good fight for both men. There are also the options of Ruiz, Wilder, AJ 2, Pulev and more. Whyte’s career is far from over.
Is Eddie Hearn, Matchroom and Dazn Still an Option for Dillian Whyte?
Eddie Hearn and DAZN could possibly be looking to re-sign Whyte. It’s clear Eddie would be happy to work with Whyte again and is confident he has helped his career.
When asked about Whyte announcing himself as a free agent, Eddie Hearn had this to say: “Look, it’s all good. If Dillian wants to go to Frank Warren, if he wants to go to BBC, he’ll do it. We’ve done great business together, I hope he stays with us, but it’s a fight-by-fight because I just know we’ve delivered for him every time.“
Are There Any Other Promoters That Could Help the Career of Dillian Whyte?
In short – yes. This was talked about a little while ago, and it could potentially still be an option. PBC.
PBC have a solid heavyweight stable. Contains two big names, ex-world champion fighters who Whyte has clashed with online previously. Can you guess who?
Andy Ruiz Jr and Deontay Wilder. Both of these fights are tough but would generate huge amounts of money. And if won, see Whyte challenge for a world title again!
Dillian Whyte has many options, rematches, old beef and new ventures. I am excited to see which route he will take, as it is guaranteed to be entertaining! Let’s just hope “the body snatcher” is back soon!
