Edgar Berlanga and Eddie Hearn have had relationships turn sour after a recent clash at the Orlando press conference.
The press conference was for Ammo Williams and Patrice Volny but Berlanga and Hearn took headlines after the two argued.
Both have gone back and forth over various different interviews arguing over contract negotiations.
Berlanga has insisted on not re signing with Matchroom which has led to the disagreement with Eddie.
Hearn has said that he wasn’t interested in putting big money into a fighter who is going to leave.
Matchroom and Eddie Hearn have delivered some massive events for Berlanga including the Canelo Alvarez fight.
Which would have been a career high payday for most fighters, including Berlanga.
Despite this Berlanga wants out of Matchroom after they refused to bid for a stadium fight unless a new contract was signed.
This has all come to blows this week when the two were at the fight week press conference.
Hearn claimed if Berlanga had no interest in Matchroom then he wont pay out on Berlanga.
Since he(Edgar Berlanga) had no interest in signing an extension w/Matchroom that this is the reason this fight happened on the co-main event?”
He says the plan was there since his Canelo payday.
“The reason this fight happened is because it was written in his contract in the Canelo fight.”
“Absolutely, I’m not going to put a load more money into a show when it’s the last fight of a deal. He doesn’t understand the business. That’s the reality.”
Edgar Berlanga Confirms Frustrations-
This has been solidified by Berlanga’s action outside of the ring which include him expressing frustrations at the size of his event.
“This is a small show for me, you know the deal we had.. but it is what it is”
The news hasn’t stopped there with it now coming out that the Puerto Rican has missed weight for his scheduled bout.
Berlanga came in 1.6 pounds over the championship limit, weighing 169.6 pounds at Friday’s weigh-in.
Ahead of his WBO NABO super middleweight title bout with Jonathan Gonzalez-Ortiz.
This will be the final fight between Berlanga and Matchroom but has done neither any good.
