A new look Edmen Shahbazyan showed clear improvements to his game in a stunning TKO over Dalcha Lungiambula at UFC 282.
Using a clever game plan to negate the size and power of his opponent. Edmen kept disciplined and used the necessary tools to pick apart Lungiambula before dispatching him in the second.
With range on his side, he remained cautious of the power being thrown his way. Setting up his strikes and landing well through two. It was late in the second the moment came.
With less than a minute remaining in the clock Edmen landed a tremendous flying knee which wobbled Dalcha. Smelling blood Shahbazyan pushed the pace and delivered a beating that forced the referee to step in.
What’s Next?
Bouncing back after a three-fight skid. The formerly ranked Edmen Shahbazyan looks to return to the Middleweight top 15. A good display against a tough Dalcha Lungiambula is a good way to return to form.
At only 25, and coming into this fight with a new focus and training team. Moving forward we could all see Edmen making some major improvements in his coming fights.
An opponent who’s also on the periphery of the top 15 seems like a perfect next fight for Shahbazyan. His former ascent to the top seemed a little rushed. With age on his side, it would be wise for him to gain more octagon experience before making a second step up into the rankings.
