Ethan Wilson is all set to make the walk this Saturday at Almighty Fighting Championship 30 at the Barnsley Metrodome.
Ahead of the fight, we had the opportunity to catch up with Ethan Wilson who discussed life since facing his first loss, handling the loss, and being eager to get back to winning ways on Almighty this Saturday.
Hear what he had to say below.
Interview With Ethan Wilson
Ethan, the last time we spoke was ahead of your Goliath Fight Series bout towards the back end of 2023. Talk to me. How have things been since then, inside and outside of the gym?
Yeh, a lot has happened after my last fight; I feel like, after the loss, we wanted to put a lot more focus into S&C and really build a solid foundation to grow new skills on. In addition, been training with so many different bodies across the northeast, which is such a hotbed for MMA/BJJ. This has given me a lot more experience and information to take away and study.
At Goliath Fight Series 2, you suffered your first defeat to Ellis Pilkinton. Many fighters process and handle their first taste of defeat differently. Talk me through the loss, and you handled it post-fight.
The loss was obviously hard to take, but nothing like your first L to light a fire under you to come back stronger. It’s a fight, so anything can happen, but I feel I just didn’t stick to the game plan that night and the fight got away from me slightly.
Ethan Wilson Talks Liam Fullerton Clash
You return to Almighty again this Saturday. A show you’ve found great success in the past. That being said, what do you need to do in order to get the same result you did last time out against Liam Fullerton?
I’m really excited to be back on Almighty, feeling like we have left no stone unturned, and my confidence is sky-high going into this one. I have put every ounce of myself into this. There have been no shortcuts, and just itching to go Saturday!
On Saturday night, you’re faced with Sam Howard. Looking back at his amateur career thus far, break downhill skill set for me and how you feel about the fight itself.
I respect Sam a lot as I do any opponent, and I understand he’s put everything he has into this camp. I feel we both excel on the ground, but I’ll just have to much across the board for him to deal with.
How important is it for you to kickstart your 2023 campaign with a victory and try to re-build the momentum once again?
It’s vital to start the year off with a win. Been keeping active with BJJ and wrestling comps to try to build some momentum and get as much experience as I can.
Finally, I’ll leave you with the last word. Do you have any last words for your opponent before you step in there on Saturday night or anyone you’d like to thank?
Don’t have any final words or bold predictions just going to go out there and let my performance speak for itself.
