Esteban Ribovics Def. Terrence McKinney via KO (head kick) Round 1, 0:37
The first finish came in the penultimate UFC St. Louis prelim of the night. In a fight, many expected to deliver. Argentina’s Esteban Ribovic stunned the crowd when he head-kicked Terrence McKinney unconscious in the first round. A firefight for as long as it lasted at just 37 seconds, all of which was pure chaos. Ribovics is now a name on the rise.
Chase Hooper Def. Viacheslav Borshchev via submission (d’arce choke) Round 2, 3:00
The featured UFC St. Louis prelim lived up to the billing. Chase Hopper described the bout as a classic striker vs grappler match-up. Luckily for Hooper, it went all the grapplers’ way. From the opening bell, he dominated the bout before securing a second-round submission. That makes it three wins in a row since his return to Lightweight.
Carlos Diego Ferreira Def Mateusz Rebecki via TKO (punches) Round 3, 4:51
Carlos Diego Ferreira derailed a hype train when he stopped Poland’s Mateusz Rebecki late in the third round. Weathering an early storm in round one. The 39-year-old Brazilian used all his experience to wear on his opponent’s gas tank in round two. Entering the third it was all Ferreira, who was dominating on the feet. After making Rebecki’s face look like a scene from a horror movie, Ferreira secured the TKO finish with some brutal ground and pound.
Carlos Ulberg Def. Alonzo Menifield via KO (punch) Round 1, 0:12
Carlos Ulberg was one of the biggest winners from the UFC St. Louis card as he made it six wins in a row. Taking on the always dangerous Alonzo Menifield who was eleventh in the light heavyweight rankings. Ulberg went toe to toe with the power puncher, landing flush several times before landing the killer blow. Once Menifield hit the deck the referee had seen enough and ended the fight.
Derrick Lewis Def. Rodrigo Nascimento via TKO (punches) Round 3, 0:49
It took Derrick Lewis until the third round to score his trademark knockout victory. Engaging in the clinch with Rodrigo Nascimento in rounds one and two. In the third Lewis seemed to be done biding his time and unleashed a combination with bad intentions. Landing a huge overhand right to drop his Brazilian foe. Lewis swarmed his downed opponent to secure his record-extending fifteenth UFC KO.
