OKTAGON lightweight Akonne Wanliss is planning to ‘unleash the force’ when he faces Sahil Siraj at OKTAGON 56 on April 20.
The event takes place in Wanliss’ home city of Birmingham at Resorts World Arena where he sets out to extend his unbeaten run to five fights.
The fight with Siraj is part of the promotion’s Tipsport Gamechanger tournament where the winner takes home a cash prize, with the tournament being dubbed ‘MMA’s Champions League’.
Aptly nicknamed ‘J3DI’, the Team Renegade prospect is a huge Star Wars fan and described, in galactic terms, how the fight is going to play out.
He said: “The force will be unleashed.
“Lightsaber will come out, fear will tremble around the whole arena, the Jedi raises his lightsaber in the air, but he doesn’t use the lightsaber… he uses the force choke.
“Before the opponent can even get close by one metre, he’s already tapping for his life, the referee comes to mercy and the fight is over.
“The Jedi puts his lightsaber back, nobody has to die today.”
Akonne Wanliss Reflects on The Cancellation Of His First Scheduled Fight With Siraj
The bout between the two lightweights was initially set to take place last month but was swiftly cancelled when the Swede’s coaches attacked the British fighter.
Wanliss believes this was done purposefully as a means of getting out of the fight with himself.
He stated: “I just think they literally had no confidence in their boy. All I said was that I was gonna bounce Jaffa Cakes off of your coaches head and it got you so angry that you had to gang up with another guy and attack me before the fight.
“It makes no sense to me, other than you got so riled up and you didn’t have too much confidence in your boy so you thought let me… it is what it is.
“Their weakness will show come 20th April when I unleash the force.”
