OKTAGON welterweight Ammari Diedrick has promised to break his opponent mentally as opposed to finishing him in one round at OKTAGON 56.
The Team Renegade fighter will be on home turf when he meets Daniel Hromek inside Resorts World Arena on April 20. Diedrick does not care about first-round finishes but would rather dominate across 15 minutes and showcase his skills inside the cage.
He said: “I can obviously knock him out but I can break you mentally, that’s what it is. The Chechen guy I fought in my debut, he’s never been knocked out before but I broke him mentally.
“With that being said, I know I can break him mentally, you’re not gonna be fitter than me, you’re not gonna out-dog me. I’m the dog! I am the dog, so if you wanna have a dogfight we can have a dogfight. If you wanna try and go cardio-for-cardio you’re gonna lose bro.
“I don’t care how hard your chin is, I don’t care about none of that, we can go 15 minutes and have a scrap. As long as I go out there and dominate from round one to three, that’s all it needs to be.
“For me, it’s just a mental game, I’m going to break you mentally and that’s it. I don’t care where you’re from, who you think you’ve fought.”
Ammari Diedrick is Looking to Use His Early Card Placement to Steal The Show
Diedrick faces Hromek in the second bout of the night on April 20 following the women’s flyweight showdown between Megan Morris and Aitana Alvarez.
The Brit revealed that this initially annoyed him but has since came to appreciate his placement as he looks to steal the show with his accomplished kickboxing background.
He said: “At first I was annoyed, on paper I’m the biggest name on the card. Now, I’m gonna go out there and steal the show, there’s no strikers on the stage like me at the end of the day.
“I don’t care if you’re the main event or if you’re Akonne [Wanliss], he’s my guy as well. No one fights like me, they’re not entertaining like I am.
“With that being said, I’m gonna go out there and steal the show… I’m gonna let them know that Ammari Diedrick is here to stay.”
