Garon Shemar has admitted he is confident ahead of his bout with Jack Humphries at GTFP (Golden Ticket Fight Promotions) 22.
The pair are set to clash on Saturday evening at KK’s Steel Mill in Wolverhampton.
On paper, Shemar’s opponent is the most accomplished fighter that he has had to face yet. Despite his 4-3 record, Humphries has competed at both the World and European IMMAF Championships as well as emphatically winning the Four Nations tournament last year.
However, despite the 19-year-old’s impressive accolades, Shemar is feeling confident about being able to dominate the West Midlands clash on the feet.
The Coventry man discussed the fight in an exclusive interview with Combat Sports UK.
He said: “I see me coming forward, I see me putting a lot of pressure on him. I see me finding success on the feet early and I see him really looking to wrestle hard.
“I’m not delusional, I know there’s ways to beat me but at the same time, I’m confident to know that I don’t believe that he can hang with me on the feet.
“I know I’m gonna be putting pressure on him, faking him. He’s gonna be biting on a load of fakes, I’m gonna be coming forward and I feel like he’s gonna feel that pressure early.
“He’s gonna know within one [or] two minutes within the first round [that] he’s gotta wrestle to beat me and I expect a lot of shots, I expect him to be changing levels quite often.”
Garon Shemar Fight Prediction For GTFP 22
Shemar bounced back from a first professional loss back in April when he earned a split decision win over Jack Atherton.
The Lions Gym fighter revealed he is looking forward to stepping into the cage again and delivering a performance that will guarantee a title shot for the GTFP amateur bantamweight championship.
He predicted: “I see me using a lot of movement, I see me pressuring him and I see him shooting a lot, I see me defending a lot.
“Whether I get him out of there or not, who knows but I’ll tell you one thing. I’m gonna be coming forward in this fight and I’m gonna be putting a lot of pressure on him early.
“I’m not gonna say ‘I’m gonna finish him’ or whatever but the way he’s talking he’s gonna come out fast so I’m looking forward to it.”
