Speaking to Betway, Jared Gordon shares his opinion on one of MMA’s biggest names, Conor McGregor. Discussing a fight between the two, the Paddy Pimblett comparisons and the Notorious’ upcoming showdown with Michael Chandler.
On a Fight with Conor Mcgregor, “I think I Could Beat Him. I Can Beat Anyone on Any Given Day.”
When talking about the notorious, Jared Gordon is confident he would beat the Irish star at Lightweight. Having the following to say:
“If I was to fight Conor McGregor, it would be a hard fight. I think I could beat him. I can beat anyone on any given day. It only takes one shot in MMA, or one grab of the neck. I also believe in myself a lot. He is also not the same fighter who was young and hungry and came from Dublin with nothing. He’s now done movies, he has gained a lot of weight, his face looks a lot different, I don’t know if it’s steroids but all the plastic surgery and money changes people. Cardio is also an issue for Conor McGregor as well.”
While discussing McGregor, Gordon also found time to trash his former opponent Paddy Pimblett. Pimblett has garnered lots of attention since his UFC debut in 2021. His meteoric rise gained the Scouser comparisons to the Irishman. However, Gordon shuts down the comparison claiming McGregor is the better fighter.
“Conor McGregor is just a better fighter than Paddy ultimately. His striking and wrestling is far better. Paddy may beat him in Jiu-Jitsu but I don’t think it will get that far. Conor can be hard to take down. He is a two weight world champion, and has been in the octagon with some of the best in the world. Even in his first fight in the UFC, he was far better than Paddy in his debut. He doesn’t necessarily hit hard, but he is so accurate and fluid with his style.“
“Michael Chandler Beats Conor McGregor”
Still, on the topic of McGregor, Gordon thinks the notorious will lose his upcoming fight with ‘Iron’ Michael Chandler.
“Michael Chandler beats Conor McGregor. Mike is my teammate so there may be a bit of a bias. He has been way more active. He is a more well rounded fighter. He is super explosive. He may not be tall, but he is big for the lightweight division. Conor hasn’t fought in well over a year, and all that time off isn’t good for anyone. Who knows what Conor we are going to see? He has a long way to go before we see the Conor of old.”
“If Conor wins, he goes straight for the title. If Chandler wins, he may also get a title shot. This means the division could be on hold. But you never know with the UFC’s thinking.”
