UFC welterweight Orion Cosce is looking for a finish when he faces TUF alumni Gilbert Urbina on Saturday night.
Cosce and Urbina will meet inside the UFC Apex this weekend on the prelims of UFC Vegas 73, headlined by Mackenzie Dern and Angela Hill.
The 28-year-old defeated Blood Diamond in July last year in what was his first professional win by decision.
In an exclusive interview with Combat Sports UK, Cosce revealed that he wants to get back to finishing ways.
He said: “I feel like he’s gonna come out swinging, I’m gonna be calm, cool, and collected.
“I just wanna get a finish man. I wanna get in there and get out of there with a finish, get my hand raised.
“I’m not looking past him though, he’s gonna be very hungry like I said earlier, he’s gonna be looking for his own finish, he’s gonna be looking to grind for a win.
“In his mind he needs to win and that’s my mind too. Every single fight from here on out, I need to win, I have to.”
‘Galaxy’ suffered his first loss in 2021 when he was knocked out by Philip Rowe, something that he has vowed to never let happen again.
He said. “There is no more losing, we’ve already gone through that once, we gotta get that win streak back up again.
“Work hard, get out there, get a knockout or submission and then get out, celebrate a little bit, go home [and] start training again for another fight.”
Cosce on Gilbert Urbina’s Strengths
Cosce’s opponent, Urbina, showcased his aggressive style and grappling prowess when he competed in the 29th edition of The Ultimate Fighter under ‘Team Volkanovski’.
Cosce acknowledged his strengths and expects him to be as hungry as ever in his return to welterweight.
He said: “He comes out very aggressive in the first round but then he starts to taper off in the latter half of the first round. You can tell that he’s one of those guys that comes out full berserk.
“So, based off that and based on what I’ve seen where if he takes your back, he does a pretty good job especially if he gets that body triangle in. But other than that he’s just a well-rounded guy,
“I’m expecting him to come in just hungry, ready to go. He’s off back-to-back losses right now, typically he fights at 185, he hasn’t fought at 170 in a long time so I’m fully expecting a different Gilbert Urbina this coming fight.”
