ONE Championship welterweight Roberto Soldic has promised an exciting fight ahead of the promotion’s first card in the United States.
The Croatian’s debut against Murad Ramazanov was ruled a no-contest after an accidental knee to the groin left him unable to continue.
Soldic takes on Zebaztian Kadestam in his second outing with the promotion following the no-contest and, in an exclusive interview with Combat Sports UK, predicted an exciting fight against the Swede.
Speaking to Patrick McCorry, he said: “I’m quicker, faster, younger, of course. I feel good, I’m ready, confident.
“Weight is on point, training is on point so no mistakes this time, I [will] try to finish like always.
“As a fighter, Kadestam – I respect him a lot because [he is] former ONE champion. It’s gonna be a tough fight for me too but I believe in my skills.
“I see [a] good fight. You know, I always try to finish and if he makes any mistakes I will take it. It’s gonna be [an] exciting fight.
The 28-year-old is a former KSW welterweight champion and spoke about his championship aspirations with ONE Championship.
He said: “I don’t wanna [put] pressure [on] myself. I don’t wanna rush because I have a long time [left in my] career and also a long time [left on my] contract.
“First, I need to beat the guys. People expect a lot from me because everybody says I will be champion. But, when I have the belt, then I am champion.”
Soldic on Fighting in the United States
Robocop’s bout against Kadestam comes on the highly anticipated ONE Fight Night 10, the company’s first event on US soil.
The card is full of huge combat sports names, including Demetrious Johnson, Rodtang Jitmuangnon, and Sage Northcutt.
Soldic spoke about fighting in the US and how the crowd may compare to the crowds in Europe and Asia.
He said: “They also go crazy for the fights, I like it. They give a lot of support and respect to the fighters so I’m really happy that I can compete in [the] US and I [will] try to bring the noise in the arena.”
