Sam Creasey has admitted that past mistakes in his career have helped him grow ahead of his upcoming title fight with Aaron Aby at OKTAGON 56.
Creasey had a long stint with Cage Warriors, spanning 18 fights, picking up the flyweight title twice. He now heads to OKTAGON MMA where he faces Aby in Birmingham on April 20, looking to capture gold in another promotion.
The 36-year-old revealed at OKTAGON 56 media day that mistakes he made while with Cage Warriors have helped him become the fighter and person that he is today.
He said: “My time with Cage Warriors has been successful, littered with some very horrible mistakes at inopportune moments.
“But, those have helped me grow – not only as a martial artist but as a person to reflect more on a lot of things in life. I’m able to give that back to my students, able to pass that knowledge on to the future generation.
“They’re all mistakes I’m learning from, all the time. It’s part of what I like to call ‘the story’, there’s a story that I’m telling and I’m still writing the chapters.”
Sam Creasey Gives His Prediction For The Fight
During that long stint with Cage Warriors, Creasey and Aby did meet inside the cage. The fight took place in the summer of 2021 and saw ‘Urai’ cruise to a unanimous decision victory.
While admitting that Aby has grown as a fighter in the three years that have passed, he believes he can finish him this time rather than leaving it in the hands of the judges.
He predicts: “I would like to say I’m gonna finish him before the five [rounds].
“But, Aaron’s a tough guy, there’s not a bit of quit in him as I’ve said before.
“I expect my hand [to be] raised at the end of five rounds.”
