UK prospect Shanelle Dyer has praised the Professional Fighters League for allowing her to fight outside of the organisation to stay active.
Dyer is early in her career at 3-0 and is looking to fight again ahead of 2024’s PFL Europe tournament where she will look to follow in the footsteps of fellow Brit Dakota Ditcheva.
The 22-year-old was unable to get on the recent card in Dublin but managed to schedule a fight with Liliya Kazak at ARES FC 18 on December 15.
She praised PFL for how they manage their fighters and allow them to be flexible.
She said: “They (PFL) work a lot, they work with ARES. Obviously, Veronica Hardy and Dan Hardy – they work with ARES as well.
“I’m basically on loan to ARES for one fight, I’m still fighting for PFL, it’s still under the PFL banner. So, I’m basically having a PFL fight on ARES the week after [PFL Dublin.]
“I’m just happy, as long as I keep fighting, I get paid, it doesn’t matter where. That’s what I really like about PFL as well, they’re a fighter’s company.
“They want to keep the fighters active, they want to keep the fighters paid, it’s not on the PFL banner, or on the PFL stage, they’re really flexible. You can fight on different shows, they just want us to be the best we can be. If it’s not on the PFL name then I can just go around and come back, as always.”
Dyer Discusses Blossoming Relationship With Dan and Veronica Hardy
Dan Hardy joined PFL Europe as ‘Head of Fighter Operations’ earlier this year. Meanwhile, his wife Veronica works closely with ARES as a commentator.
But on a more personal level, the couple have been full of praise for ‘The Nightmare’, having trained closely with her at GB Top Team.
Dyer spoke about her relationship with the Hardys in detail
She said: “Just on a casual level, they’re amazing people, they’re so nice. They’re so down to earth as well. Especially Dan, he comes to our gym. Veronica, when she’s in camp, she does three weeks of her camp in our gym.
“It’s literally like she’s been in the gym for ages, we just gel together. She’s literally part of the girl team, she’s on the girl groups chat and everything, she’s so great.
“She’s such a great fighter as well, comes with a lot of experience. Her jiu-jitsu is amazing, her striking is really unorthodox and she’s a southpaw as well! You don’t really get such high-level southpaws, so it’s a good look for me, it’s a hard spar for me, as well, just to figure out.
“Just having her on the team is amazing as well and I used to watch her fight even before. I’m still a fan of MMA and I used to fangirl watching her fight as well, so having her is amazing.
“Having Dan’s insight as well is amazing after watching my spars. He’ll give me tips and stuff to just make me become a better fighter.”
