Fabian “The Assassin” Edwards had the chance to climb up the rankings at Bellator 281, where he fought MMA legend Lyoto Machida, with the fight ending via a huge KO victory in the first round of the bout! Certainly sets things up for “The Assassin” going forward!
Fabian Edwards Lands Huge Knockout
Edwards made a sensational start to his professional career, going on a 9-fight win streak. This came by 3 KO/TKO, three subs, and three decisions, demonstrating their opponent always need to be wary of what he can pull off and his gas tank, which evidentially can go the distance if need be.
Edwards had faced terrible luck in his last two fights losing by split decision and unanimous decision, respectively, against Costello Van Steenis and Austin Vanderford, leaving his record before this fight at 9-2 (now 10-2). However, the door of opportunity has been cracked right open following his devastating KO of Machida, already being ranked #3 leading up to the bout.
Lyoto “The Dragon” Machida has had a legendary career so far. What is in store for him next? Prior to this fight, he was sat with a record of 26-11, following three straight losses to no easy opposition in Gegard Mousasi, Phil Davis, and Ryan Bader, respectively. The former UFC Light Heavyweight Champion is now on a four-fight skid. I wonder what will be in store for “The Dragon” following this.
What is next for Fabian Edwards? Are we looking at the twilight of Machida’s career? What do you guys think?
