Ian Garry put on a clinical performance to earn his 11th straight victory with a third round TKO of Song Kenan at UFC 285 – but it seems not everyone was sold on his talents.
Ian Garry’s comeback after being momentarily floored by Song Kenan’s brutal left hook in the first round was nothing short of impressive. Garry showed tremendous resilience and skill, rebounding to deliver an exceptional performance despite the early setback. It was in the third round where Garry truly shone, putting on a masterclass display that led to his late TKO finish of Kenan. The Dubliner’s victory at UFC 285 showcases why he is considered one of the welterweight division’s most promising prospects.
However, things took a weird turn for Garry in the parking lot of the T-Mobile Arena after the fight. A video captured shows an intoxicated or delusional fan attempting to threaten or challenge him. It’s unclear what sparked the confrontation but it became a big scene as others separated the trained mixed martial artist and the madman.
Aggressive Fan Confronts Ian Garry (Video)
“Or what? or what?” the crazed fan repeats. “Relax, relax!” Garry responded, urging him to calm down. “I’m a fighter too dog; I do this! I promise you. I promise you, you don’t want this.” ironically states the lunatic.
Seeing as there’s been no updates it doesn’t seem like man was granted his wish which would’ve ended horrifically for him. Despite the commotion, it is fortunate that nothing serious occurred, and Ian Garry responded to the situation with exceptional composure. This incident is a reminder that fighters should be treated with respect and not put in positions where they’re forced to exercise restraint because of a fans idiotic actions.
What’s Next
Moving forward, Ian recently shared his hopes to fight at UFC 287 in Miami. Following an 8 month layoff, it seems he wants an active 2023. Garry trains in Florida at Kill Cliff FC, (formerly Sanford MMA) so a spot on that card despite being only 5 weeks away seems like a good fit. The event also features his training partner Gilbert Burns fighting Jorge Masvidal in a huge clash.
Regardless, at UFC 285 Ian proved he has the heart to match an exciting skillset. With an undefeated record of 11-0 and a new multi-fight deal with the UFC, ‘The Future’ looks set for stardom.
