FCC 29 is heating up, and the fight announcements have Full Contact Contender SCORCHING.
The newest addition to the FCC 29 card will be a Flyweight clash between Lewis McGrillen (who has one of the best fanbases in the entire domestic scene) and Jamie Lee, one of Stapes’ biggest prospects. This Flyweight battle promises to deliver.
Lewis McGrillen (3-0)
Both men come into this fight with high hopes. McGrillen walks into FCC 29 with a 3-0 professional record and looks to show the level of prospect he is. Jamie Kelly on the other hand enters 3-2 on a two fight skid, but that doesn’t tell the full story. Jamie is a true veteran, having amateur experience deeper than the atlantic and has faced a who’s who of competition, including Muhammad Mokaev.
Lewis McGrillen has never tasted defeat in his pro career. The only time he suffered defeat even on the amateur scene was only his third fight. McGrillen is truly coming into his own and showing that he’s one of the best prospects the UK has to offer. He competes at a weight class where many often say the highest skill level is required for success while the fighters aren’t the most beloved, so his drawing power is absolutely staggering.
Lewis is a new era of Flyweight, he knows exactly how to market himself to the masses. Every promotion around needs studs at Flyweight, this is Lewis’ chance to cement himself at the top. If Lewis is able to leave with the finish, then this could lead to massive things for McGrillen. While Lewis has faced high level fighters before, it’s fair to say that Kelly is his toughest test to date. So, it’s clear that Lewis McGrillen will walk into this one ready to go.
Jamie Kelly (3-2)
Jamie trains under UK legend Stapes and looks to make a STATEMENT in taking out an undefeated prospect. To do so, then Jamie needs to employ the perfect gameplan. Luckily, he’s surrounded by EXACTLY the type of men to put it together.
Jamie is on a two fight skid, having lost to Muhammad Mokaev at the end of 2020 while dropping one to Cage Warriors fighter Ciaran Mulholland in August of 2021. While losses often are discouraging to fighters, losses to competition as talented as Mokaev and Mulholland are nothing but learning experiences. Jamie has had the honor of sharing the cage with the best of the best, so we’ll get to see if McGrillen is that.
Prior to facing Mokaev, Jamie had a pro record eerily similar to Lewis’. Standing 3-0 with three KO/TKO stoppages, Lee started his career on fire. With a win at FCC 29 in June, Jamie will be right back on track and then some. It will be interesting to see what Jamie and the team put together for McGrillen.
